Maximizer-Minimizer

If one of you amplifies and one shuts down, understand this dynamic.

The maximizer-minimizer dynamic describes a relational pattern in which one partner amplifies and dramatizes problems to feel heard (maximizer) while the other downplays and minimizes to avoid overwhelm (minimizer). This mismatch in emotional intensity often creates a frustrating cycle of escalation and dismissal.
